Phillip Schofield has chastised a This Morning caller during a love dilemma phone-in.The 59-year-old presenter appeared alongside Holly Willoughby and agony aunt Deidre Saunders during a phone-in on the latest episode of the ITV show. The second caller was named Steve, who shared the dilemma that his best friend of seven years had recently confessed his love for him.Steve said he didn't feel the same way, leading to an awkwardness in the friendship. As Steve admitted he had been avoiding his best friend since, Phil admonished the caller for his actions.Phil said: "No.
No. That's not the right thing to do, is it?"Steve went on to say that he didn't want the friendship to be ruined over the love confession.Of his best friend, Phil replied: "Did you speak to him about it?"Steve said "I tried to go off-subject and then he mentioned it again and I just said, 'I'm uncomfortable, I don't want to talk about it and I haven't spoken to him since.'"As Deidre and Holly chimed in with their own advice for the dilemma-struck caller, Phil offered his final opinion on the issue. He convinced Steve to patch things up with his pal by talking to him rather than skating around the issue.Phil also wished the caller luck with his forthcoming conversation with his friend, who he also works with.Phil concluded: "It would be a tragedy if you lost a long-standing mate because he feels so close to you so you can't avoid him. "You've got to sit down and talk about it and say, 'I want you to be my mate.
I don't want to lose you as a mate. I don't feel like that, however, I would be gutted if we weren't friends.'"Good luck."This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.For more of the latest showbiz and TV news from the Daily Star, make sure you sign up.
