Announcements for “The Rookie: Feds,” and “Home Economics” will be revealed at a later date. The “Conners” will return for a sixth season. The show’s Season 5 finale, which aired on May 3, scored a 0.45 rating among adults 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers during its 8 p.m. timeslot, ultimately defeating the series finale of “The Goldbergs,” which earned a 0.30 rating among the key demo and drew in 2.5 million total viewers as the show came to a close after 10 years on the network.

The Conners are sticking around at ABC. The series has been renewed for its sixth season, the network announced Tuesday.

Amazon Freevee has given a straight-to-series order to The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh, an immigrant comedy inspired by the personal experiences of Vijal Patel (Black-ish, The Middle), starring Naveen Andrews (The Dropout), Sindhu Vee (Starstruck), and Megan Hilty (Smash). Sahana Srinivasan (Grown-ish), Arjun Sriram (Sydney to the Max), Ashwin Sakthivel (Smeds and Smoos), Ethan Suplee (Babylon) and Nicholas Hamilton (Time) round out the series regular cast. Pete Holmes (Crashing) and Romy Rosemont (A Million Little Things) will recur in the eight-episode half-hour series. The project had been in development at IMDb TV, which rebranded to Amazon Freevee, since 2021.

Netflix has set January 19 for the premiere of That ’90s Show, a follow-up to hit sitcom That ’70s Show. We’re also getting a first look at some of the footage in a teaser trailer, which features the return of That ’70s Show alums Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith as beloved grandparents Kitty and Red and a new group of teenage friends. NBC has handed a series order to Mike O’Malley’s family comedy.

Selome Hailu NBC has given a series order to an untitled comedy pilot written by Mike O’Malley. The multi-cam series follows Jim (Jon Cryer) and Julia (Abigail Spencer), who, after an amicable divorce, decide to continue to raise their kids at the family home while taking turns on who gets to stay with them. Navigating the waters of divorce and child-sharing gets more complicated for Jim when Trey (Donald Faison), the owner of his favorite sports team, enters the picture and wins Julia’s heart. Also starring are Finn Sweeney and Sofia Capanna as Jim and Julia’s kids, Jimmy Jr. and Grace, respectively. O’Malley and Cryer both serve as executive producers along with Tom Werner, Wyc Grousbeck, Emilia Fazzalari and George Geyer. (Werner is the owner of the Boston Red Sox, and Grousbeck is the owner of the Boston Celtics.) Lionsgate TV and Universal Television co-produce the series.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter “The Conners” star Michael Fishman is leaving the ABC sitcom ahead of Season 5, Variety has confirmed. Fishman played DJ Tanner in the series, reprising the role he played for 10 seasons on “Roseanne.” Exact details on how Fishman will be written out of the show are currently under wraps, but it will supposedly leave the door open for him to return. Jayden Rey, who plays DJ’s daughter Mary in the show, will also not be back as a series regular, though she will appear in a guest star role. John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Emma Kenney, Ames McNamara, Jay R. Ferguson, and Katey Sagal will all return for the new season. Fishman first began playing DJ Tanner in 1988 in the second episode of “Roseanne.” He stayed with the show throughout its first nine seasons, returning along with the rest of the original cast for the 2018 revival. He has also directed five episodes of “The Conners” since 2020, most recently directing the Season 4 episode “Messy Situation, Miscommunication and Academic Probation.”
