Paramount+ has set the lead cast for its upcoming drama series Sexy Beast, the prequel to the 2000 cult British gangster movie, which is set to premiere in 2023.

An A-list cast including Brian Cox, Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker, and Bill Nighy will lend their voices to That Christmas, an animated feature from Netflix penned by Richard Curtis and directed by Simon Otto (How to Train Your Dragon trilogy). 

Alex Ritman Brian Cox is set to voice Santa Claus in Netflix‘s upcoming festive animated feature “That Christmas.” Due later this year, the film marks the directorial debut of animation veteran Simon Otto (“Love, Death & Robots,” “How to Train Your Dragon) and comes from Locksmith Animation (“Ron’s Gone Wrong”). “That Christmas” is adapted from the children’s book series by BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated writer and director Richard Curtis (“Four Weddings and a Funeral,” “Notting Hill”).

Hot off the heels of Fool Me Once, Netflix is set to release another thriller adapted from a Harlan Coben novel and there are lots of familiar faces in the cast.The series, which is based on the 2014 novel, previously cast Slow Horses actress Rosalind Eleazar as the lead Detective Kat Donovan, with filming already underway. Joining Rosalind in the production is EastEnders star Jessica Plummer, Fool Me Once’s Richard Armitage, Three Little Birds’ Lenny Henry, Happy Valley’s Steve Pemberton, and The Stranger’s Paul Kaye.

Lily Allen has told a theatre critic to “get in the bin” over their comments about her West End show The Pillowman.The play, which recently came to the end of its run at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London, saw Allen play Katurian, a writer who is questioned by the authorities about a spate of murders that bear similarities to her short stories.Written by The Banshees of Inisherin director Martin McDonagh, The Pillowman also starred Steve Pemberton and Paul Kaye.Following a string of mixed reviews for the show, Allen has found herself involved in an online spat with theatre critic Mark Shenton.It all started when Shenton took exception to a positive review quote from All That Dazzles, which read: “Undoubtedly one of the best plays of the year.”In a blog post, Shenton branded the review “utterly meaningless” as it came from a “blog that calls just about every show they see as ‘potentially’ or ‘undoubtedly’ one of the best of the year”.Shenton then took aim at the The Pillowman director Matthew Dunster on X (formerly Twitter), stating that he was “relieved” that he missed the show.In response, Allen fired back: “This is such a bizarre stance for a so called theatre enthusiast. 60000 people bought tickets to come and see this show and I’d say 90% of them were up on their feet at the curtain.“It’s insane that a quote on a poster is what stopped you from coming to see something that you profess to care so much about.

K.J. Yossman “Avatar 2: The Way of Water” star Jamie Flatters looks unrecognizable in stills from his upcoming indie feature “Black Dog,” revealed here exclusively by Variety. Shedding his blue CG ensemble, Flatters, who plays Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington’s eldest Na’avi son in James Cameron’s billion-dollar smash, reverts to type in “Black Dog” as a London teenager taking a road trip up North. Flatters co-wrote the British indie feature with his friend George Jaques (“The Serpent Queen”), who will also direct. “Black Dog” represents both Flatters and Jaques’ feature screenwriting debut.

BRENDA Blethyn has confirmed which co-star will be leaving Vera ahead of the new series. The ITV crime drama returns for its 12th series this month as Brenda reprises her role as Vera Stanhope. However, she's revealed one of her co-stars won't appear in the show for long.
