The first three mainline games and a number of spin-offs saw Kratos battling against various ancient Greek gods before 2018’s God Of War introduced Norse mythology to the series.Ragnarok finished up the story, with free expansion Valhalla serving as an epilogue to Kratos’ story.However a new report from industry insider DanielRPK claims that Sony is currently casting “middle eastern” actors for an unknown AAA game that’s “likely to be the next God Of War game that explores ancient Egypt” (via The Game Post).It’s not known if Kratos or his son Atreus will return to the franchise, but the game would likely include Egyptian deities such as Osris, the judge of death, sun god Ra and Anhur, the Egyptian god of war.In a 2018 documentary, creative director Cory Barlog revealed that developers had toyed with the idea of setting the game in ancient Egypt before deciding on the Norse story.

Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft is the most iconic character in gaming, according to the results of a new poll from BAFTA.Ahead of the 20th BAFTA Games Awards on April 11, the organisation shared a survey to determine the most iconic gaming character of all time. Over 4,000 people from across the world took part in the survey, and now BAFTA has announced the results.Lara Croft has topped the poll, beating out Mario (who came second) and Sonic, who was voted the fourth most iconic character of all time.In a statement Shelley Blond, the original voice actor for Lara Croft said: “I had no clue when voicing the original Tomb Raider game that it would be such a global phenomenon and neither did Eidos or Core Design.

While little is known of the DLC’s plot, it will seemingly take place after the events of Ragnarok due to Atreus’ absence.Fans won’t need to wait long to jump back into the world of God Of War though, as the DLC goes live on PS5 and PS4 next week, on December 12.

God Of War Ragnarok originally had a very different plan for Kratos.At the end of 2018’s God Of War, protagonist Kratos sees a mural prophesying his own death, and the same image makes a reappearance early on in Ragnarok.In a new interview with MinnMax, narrative director at Sony Santa Monica, Matt Sophos spoke about Kratos’ promised demise.“There was the earliest, earliest draft of an outline that we had come up with, that we took to [director Eric Williams where] Kratos died in the Thor fight at the very beginning of the game,” he said (via VGC).“He was gonna die [but] it wasn’t a permanent death. What was going to happen [was that] he would get pulled out of Hell, essentially, by Atreus,” Sophos continued, before explaining there “was going to be a big time jump” of 20 years.He added that he doesn’t care about revealing this new information “because it doesn’t happen any more, so this is all fan fiction at this point.”Apparently, Williams was the one who vetoed Kratos’ death in God Of War Ragnarok though.​​“Eric was like, ‘I don’t want to do that, Kratos has died and come back from it too many times’,” Sophos explained.

PlayStation advert starring some of the platform’s biggest stars playing in the Champion’s League has been released.The advert, which sees the likes of God of War‘s Kratos, Horizon Forbidden West‘s Aloy and the Uncharted series Nathan Drake take to the field. Ratchet and Clank also make an appearance.The ad begins with Kratos and Atreus from God of War leading the team out to the field, while Aloy strategies the teams’ formation.
