For the unfamiliar, Anne Rice is the queen of Gothic fiction who passed away at the end of 2021 and published The Witching Hour in 1990, followed by two sequels: Lasher (1993) and Taltos (1994).

Selome Hailu “Dark Winds” has been renewed for a fourth season at AMC. The news comes ahead of the March 9 premiere of Season 3. The series is set in the ’70s and stars Zahn McClarnon as Navajo Tribal Police lieutenant Joe Leaphorn who works with officers Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) and Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten) to solve the mysteries behind violent crimes on their reservation.

That’s when the show which last aired in February 2023, will finally return to both AMC and AMC+, AMC Networks announced.

News comes just days before the show’s Season 2 finale (which airs June 30).

Joe Otterson TV Reporter AMC is developing a third series set in what they have dubbed the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, with the new show set to focus on the Talamasca. Per the official description from AMC, the series “is set in the world of the Talamasca, a secretive organization featured in a number of Rice’s iconic novels that is devoted to studying the supernatural world and keeping mortals safe from its darkest elements.” John Lee Hancock will serve as writer and showrunner. His past credits include co-writing the films “The Blind Side” and “The Alamo” and directing films like “The Highwaymen” and “The Founder.” The announcement was made by Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, during the AMC Networks upfront presentation in New York on Tuesday.

The company says it ended 2022 with 11.8 million paid streaming subscribers across all of its targeted streamers: AMC+, Acorn TV, Shudder, Sundance Now, ALLBLK and HIDIVE. Those digital offerings are in addition to the company’s linear channels AMC, BBC America (a joint venture with BBC Studios), IFC, SundanceTV, WE tv and IFC Films. That’s a slight increase of 700,000 customers from the end of Q3, when AMC Networks reported it had reached 11.1 million subs. Meanwhile, U.S. ad sales fell 12% in the quarter.

Since its 2020 acquisition of the author’s iconic catalog – including both “The Lives of the Mayfair Witches” series and the more famous “The Vampire Chronicles” series – the network has already renewed “Interview with the Vampire” for a second season on the heels of its acclaimed October 2 debut.
