Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has sent a message of support to Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk after he suffered a serious ACL injury.
Van Dijk could be missing for the rest of the campaign after he was hurt by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford during the Merseyside Derby on Saturday.
The news comes as a big blow to the Reds' chances of retaining the Premier League title they won last season, but Guardiola refused to be drawn on whether he is now more confident of his side finishing top of the pile this time around.
City themselves were dealt a big problem last season when their centre-back Aymeric Laporte was ruled out for four months after injuring his knee.
