Zoo staff are on the search for a frightened pelican who ran away from his enclosure after being spooked by a flock of seagulls.
The unnamed 14-week-old bird flew away from Blackpool Zoo after being scared by a gang of gulls. Keepers at the Zoo said they lost sight of the bird at around 4pm on Friday.
They believe it headed towards the South Shore area of Blackpool. However, staff are also advising members of the public to not approach the bird in case it becomes spooked. They said: "Pelicans are beautiful, docile creatures and there is no threat to the public. "We would ask that people do not approach the bird if they see it as they may scare it.
