The grieving family of a man stabbed to death during a nightclub fight has launched civil action against the teenager cleared of any wrongdoing by a criminal court.
Ryan Passey died after he was knifed inside Chicago nightspot in Stourbridge, West Midlands, in August 2017. Birmingham Crown Court heard Kobe Murray accidentally stabbed the window cleaner through the heart before he was cleared of murder and manslaughter.
Ryan's devastated family hope that their rare civil case, which will cost them between £85,000 and £100,000, will establish that Murray killed their son unlawfully, Birmingham Live reports.
