'Would have been lost' Victoria Pendleton on 'unusual' career change amid quitting cycling

However, after cycling this wasn't the end of her athletic career as Victoria as she was given the opportunity to be a jockey.In March 2015, Victoria announced her intention to become a jockey with the aim of competing at the Foxhunter Chase at the 2016 Cheltenham Festival the following year.The Olympian was approached by a betting company with the challenge, and being Victoria she was very up for it.Speaking about the transition between sports to Express.co.uk, she said: "Well, I was very lucky to be given the opportunity to try another sport."It was a bit of an unusual opportunity but I feel very lucky and blessed that someone had that crazy idea to ask me to get involved with horse racing."As now I can’t imagine my life without my two retired race horses."I absolutely love them, they are my fur babies."Victoria then continued to express how "lucky" she felt to be given the amazing opportunity.She continued: "I think in some ways I am lucky that another opportunity did come after cycling that got me completely involved and engrossed with something new, otherwise I think I would have felt a little bit lost."But having a new sport to learn and all the lingo and all the coaching I was having and just learning about horses and how to look after them."There was so much information that it just kept me on my toes and involved with something new and exciting."So it didn’t feel like I was leaving something behind and my life was empty.""Obviously I don’t compete anymore as a jockey.
