Hibs got through their Scottish Cup tie with Queen of the South - because he wants to show them what they’re missing in the next round after they cut him loose.

Stranraer striker Yates spent years in the youth ranks at Rangers before switching Ibrox for Easter Road at the start of last year.

When coronavirus struck, the 18-year-old was sent packing, with the former Paisley Grammar School pupil left fearing he’d never get back into the beautiful game.

He’s now thriving at Stair Park bagging an extra-time winner over Brora Rangers in the Scottish Cup last weekend to see his new side progress to the fourth round.
