As a nation, we are immensely tetchy about any actor portraying a stereotypical Oirish accent but spare a thought for Aidan Turner.

The actor has confessed that he struggled to nail the accent for his latest part. The 37-year-old who hails from Dublin plays Leonardo Da Vinci in a new TV series for Amazon Prime and has admitted that the accent nearly got the better of him.
