Tommy Wright hopes Killie history repeats itself this season by lifting the Scottish Cup after securing their top flight status.

The Ayrshiremen won the famous old trophy for the first time in 68 years back in 1997 just a couple of weeks after they avoided relegation.Wright’s men are in a similar situation as they take a break from their battle to beat the drop to try and reach the semi-finals when they host St Mirren on Monday night.Bobby Williamson replaced Alex Totten midway through the 1996/97 campaign and Gary Holt’s goal earned them a draw against Aberdeen on the final day to ensure they avoided a relegation play-off.That gave them a huge boost going into the final against Falkirk which they won at Ibrox thanks to Paul Wright’s winner.
