Only Fools and Horses recently and was stunned at how "non-PC" it was.The Oscar-winner, who played bent copper Roy Slater in the sitcom, said he was taken aback when he caught an episode in which he featured.He watched 1991 episode The Class of ’62, in which Del Boy and Rodney attend a school reunion that turns out to be organised by Slater.Broadbent was struck by some of the show’s humour.He said: "It was quite non-PC, some of it now.

It’s sort of ‘oooh...’"It was 30 years ago."Speaking on That Gaby Roslin podcast, 72-year-old Jim fondly recalled being part of Only Fools and praised its "beautifully" written characters."It’s very special what John Sullivan did in putting it all together”, he said."I only went in for three episodes.

I saw one the other day – the class reunion – and as it was on, I sort of hovered by the sofa."Then I sat down and watched it right through.

It was extraordinary."The actor went on to bag an Academy Award for 2001’s Iris and do dozens of movies including Harry Potter, Bridget Jones’s Diary and Paddington.Jim also revealed he still gets recognised by fans of the sitcom, despite being his award nods for other roles.He said: "It’s by far the most recognition I get on the street."Jim's latest project sees him starring alongside Helen Mirren in The Duke, with the star singing Mirren's praises and boasting about their special friendship.He added: "Helen’s terrific and we were completely on the same wavelength.
