North Korea has deployed its troops to its southern border, effectively ripping up a de-escalation pact with its hated rival on the peninsula.
Having previously announced the redeployment earlier this month, North Korea has sent its soldiers to the 150 guard posts that straddle its border with the South.Soldiers have reportedly been spotted with shovels, which the South fears is a sign that North Korea is preparing the posts that were demolished under the pact.It comes after North Korean state-controlled media said the destruction of the inter-Korean liaison office earlier this week was “just the beginning” and feared that the country’s apparent self-restraint had “surpassed the limit”.The North has yet to respond to South Korea’s warnings.
