Seeing Old Trafford bathed in blue is another reminder of how strange these current times we are all living in have become. Manchester United 's iconic stadium is synonymous with red - and to the uneducated out there, witnessing the place lit up in the colours of their bitter rivals and neighbours will have felt uncomfortable and awkward.
But in the current climate rivalries like the one in Manchester no longer exist. Point scoring has been put on hold, all the bickering and backbiting has stopped.
For the time being at least, a truce has been called. For United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, this would have been a straightforward decision to make.
