NHS could ask patients to travel for care to tackle backlog

Patients may be asked to travel for pre-planned hospital treatments, NHS Providers said. It comes as part of the NHS' plan to deal with the long waiting list which could also see post-operative follow-up appointments cut.

The chief executive of NHS Providers, Chris Hopson said some "radical ideas" are being put forward as part of the plans. But he said it is more likely that people will be asked to go to neighbouring hospitals rather than different parts of the country.
