Newcastle United are closing in on a deal to sign Republic of Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick. The 28-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Burnley at the end of his contract in June.
Hendrick has undergone a medical on Tyneside and and is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Magpies.Signed by Clarets boss Sean Dyche for a then club record fee of £10.5million in 2016, Hendrick has been a stalwart in the midfield at Turf Moor.
He made 24 appearances for Burnley in the Premier League last season, scoring twice and registering two assists. Overall, he made 139 appearances for Burnley in all competitions, scoring 10 goals.He also has 54 caps for Ireland since making his debut in 2013.
