Newcastle United fans can finally rest easy over Matty Longstaff after he penned a new two-year deal at St James’ Park. The Magpies’ 20-year-old academy product burst onto the scene in the first team earlier in the 2019/20 season.
Longstaff scored home and away against Manchester United in the Premier League and began attracting interest from elsewhere.
AC Milan were long linked with a move for the midfielder, whose contract situation was not being resolved on Tyneside. However, he has now been tied down until 2022 after honest talks with manager Steve Bruce over his immediate future in the team.
Longstaff, who plays alongside brother Sean at St James’ Park, has not featured as much post-lockdown.But he has been given the necessary.
