Steve Bruce is set to be handed a new three-year deal at Newcastle - despite large swathes of the St. James' Park faithful continuing to voice their discontent at his management.Bruce, 60, has felt the wrath of supporters ever since his appointment back in 2019.
But Daily Star Sport understands Mike Ashley wants to reward the Toon boss with a new contract after he kept the club in the Premier League last season.
Sources suggest the Sports Direct tycoon is happy to back Bruce for as long as keeps the Tyneside outfit in the top flight. Ashley also remains confident his bid to sell the club will prove fruitful despite an ongoing legal dispute with the Premier League.
