The Premier League has confirmed that Gary Hoffman has been appointed as the new chairman and he faces a challenging start to his role.

Currently chairman of Monzo Bank, Hoffman will start his new role on June 1 and it is not yet clear whether the season will have been resumed by then, although it seems unlikely.

The Premier League, along with the EFL, is currently suspended indefinitely as social distancing measures remain in place and, until the government lifts those restrictions, football cannot return.
