New disability payment replacing DLA for some people opens for applications next week

The Scottish Government has confirmed the new Child Disability Payment will open for applications across the country from next week after the successful launch of a pilot scheme in Dundee City, Perth and Kinross and the Western Isles council areas.

This is the first of the complex disability benefits to be introduced nationwide by the Scottish Government and replaces the Disability Living Allowance for Children (DLA Child), delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The payment provides financial assistance to help meet the additional costs associated with having a physical or learning disability, long-term illness or mental health condition.
