STREAMING giant Netflix could soon be losing hundreds of thousands of subscribers to its rival Disney+ After ruling the roost for the past decade, Netflix has some stiff competition as Disney+ decides to take back the rights to some of their most popular shows.
Since its launch in 2019, Disney+ has been securing rights for huge movies and TV shows, and is gaining back its rights which were previously sold to Netflix.
In the past few weeks alone, Netflix has lost five of its huge-hitting titles. These include How I Met Your Mother, Sons of Anarchy, New Girl, Modern Family and Prison Break.
Disney+ is also set to acquire Homeland in the coming weeks. According to researchers from analytics firm Digital i, the loss of these particular titles could cost Netflix UK as much as £90m a year.
