NASA says an asteroid twice as big as Great Pyramid will zip past Earth this week

NASA has revealed that an asteroid twice as big as the Great Pyramid of Giza is set to zip past Earth this week. The asteroid, dubbed 465824 (2010 FR), will make it closest approach to Earth on September 6 at around 09:38 BST.

At that point, it will be around 4.6 million miles away from our planet. While that might sound far, it’s actually classes as a ‘close approach’ by NASA.

The space rock is estimated to measure around 120 - 270 metres in diameter. At the higher end of that estimate, it suggests the asteroid could be around twice as big as the famous Great Pyramid of Giza!
