Shielding Muslim families say they were forced to choose between their religious beliefs and eating after being sent pork sausages and bacon in their food packages.
Tins of beans and sausages and lentil and bacon soup were just some of the pork items sent to vulnerable families in "care packages" during the coronavirus lockdown.
Bradford East Labour MP Imran Hussain branded the government as "culturally and morally insensitive" following the revelations.
He also described the situation as "another display of the structural and institutionalised racism". The scheme is being operated by a private company which won the £104m government contract to drop off vital food supplies to “extremely clinically vulnerable”.
