But lawyers representing Daniels at an appeal argued his sentence should be overturned as the withdrawal of his defence team at trial meant his conviction was 'unsafe'.The defence team pulled out part way through the trial, claiming they had been left 'professionally embarrassed' when Daniels changed his account of the shooting.Daniels decided to represent himself, even though alternative legal teams were offered.He was eventually convicted of murder by a jury at Manchester Crown Court.
Mr Justice George Leggatt jailed Daniels, then of Nottingham Avenue, Stockport, for life with a recommendation that he serve a minimum of 30 years behind bars.
