A mum-of-four who was sleeping rough has been given a place to stay this Christmas thanks to a Scots ex-footballer. Emma Dunlop, faced being pee’d on and having rotten fruit thrown at her in the street when she had no place to stay after her two-year relationship with her boyfriend ended.
However, the 42-year-old has been given a warm bed and sheltered accommodation to live in over Christmas because of Lou Macari, the former Celtic and Manchester United footballer who runs a homeless centre in Stoke.
Ayrshire-born Macari established the free accommodation which also provides food to the homeless after seeing the number of street sleepers when he was out a walk one day.
