Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had accepted that Alexandre Lacazette’s goal was to be ruled out before VAR overturned the decision.
Mesut Ozil had been judged to be offside in the build-up to the goal with Lacazette eventually slotting home. After a lengthy delay, VAR determined that Ozil was actually onside and Lacazette’s goal stood with the Gunners beating West Ham 1-0.
But Arteta was already thinking about the game restarting before VAR overturned the offside decision. "When the goal was disallowed I though 'Okay, that's fine' then my staff came from the bench and said it's a goal,” Arteta said. “But then it dragged for two-three minutes and then I wasn't very positive about the outcome.
