Melissa Barrera is quite alright with In The Heights not being a major blockbuster. The 32-year-old actress, who is currently promoting her most recent flick, Scream VI, opened up in a new interview about the movie that gave her a leg up in the industry. Keep reading to find out more… During a chat with People, Melissa revealed she was thankful that the movie, directed by Jon M.
Chu, and based on the musical from Lin-Manuel Miranda, wasn’t a huge hit as it allowed her to manage expectations of her career. “Imagine if [In the Heights] had been a success and everything had been incredible and it made a billion dollars at the box office — and then my next movie flopped,” she said. Melissa added that for her, “that would have been, I think, harder… I’m so grateful that my life has been exactly as it has been.” If you recall, Melissa starred as Vanessa in In The Heights, which came out in 2021, right as the box office was still in recovery.
