Meghan Markle has today cut her final tie to the UK as she ends her patronage of British animal welfare charity – fully cementing her and Prince Harry's relocation to the United States.
Mayhew announced that the Duchess of Sussex's time as a royal patron came to an end at the start of the year. The charity said it had been "an incredible privilege" to work "closely" with Ms Markle after she became a patron in 2019.
In an emotional message personally written by the Duchess, she claimed she had "fell in love" with Mayhew after being introduced to it by a friend, who has sadly since died, Express reports.She added that a new wing of the charity's animal shelter would be named in his memory.
Meghan praised the charity's work throughout the coronavirus pandemic and during the evacuation of Afghanistan last summer. She now has just one charity patronage left in Britain, the women's clothes and job interview charity Smart Works, although it is not clear if she remains a patron.The Duchess' 10-month-old daughter Lilibet has still never met her family in the UK leaving royal experts speculating whether she will ever return to Britain.
