McDonald's 'sorry' after black people 'barred' in China over coronavirus fears

McDonald's has apologised after a branch in China barred black people from entering the restaurant over fears they were spreading coronavirus.

Footage shared on social media showed a man holding up a sign in English which said black people were barred and telling them they should notify the police for medical isolation.

The video was filmed at a branch of the fast-food giant in Guangzhou, southern China, some 500 miles south of the disease's epicentre Wuhan.

In the note, it read: "We've been informed that from now on black people are not allowed to enter the restaurant. "For the sake of your health consciously notify the local police for medical isolation. "Please understand the inconvenience caused." The US consulate in China has urged
