Martin Lewis is urging some two million motorists across the UK to check if their photocard driving licence is still valid, because if it’s not, they run the risk of having to pay a fine of up to £1,000.
In the early days of the pandemic, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) told motorists that if their photocard lapsed between September 2020 and August 31, 2021 then they would automatically receive an 11-month extension and did not need to renew their licence.
However, the clock is running down on that extension period and it’s something the consumer champion has highlighted in the latest edition of the MoneySavingExpert.com newsletter.
