Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Mario Balotelli has included Steven Gerrard and Lionel Messi in his ultimate XI - but there’s no room for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Across 13 years of top-flight football in Italy, England and France, Balotelli has bagged 151 goals in 381 appearances, getting his hands on three Serie A titles, one Premier League title and the Champions League.

The controversial Italian has also played alongside and against some of the biggest stars in world football, meaning it should be fairly straightforward for him to put together an all-time dream XI.

When asked to name his team during a Puma Football Instagram chat with Thierry Henry, Balotelli picked former Inter team-mate Julio Cesar in goal.
