Manchester United have promised to spend more than £1m on goodwill payments to matchday staff left out of pocket due to the coronavirus crisis.

All football has been suspended until April 30 and games could resume behind closed doors once it is safe for the season to start again.

The pandemic has placed huge financial strain on casual workers at Old Trafford. But United have agreed to honour wages to more than 3,000 staff should games continue to be cancelled or played behind closed doors.
