If the Toon’s Saudi owners agree to cough up that sum, the Old Trafford reserve will become the most expensive British keeper in history.At the moment the £30m Arsenal paid Sheffield United last summer to buy Henderson’s Three Lions colleague, Aaron Ramsdale, is the record transfer for a home stopper.
If expensive, the good news for Eddie Howe’s men is it puts them in pole position to win the race. The fee, plus the fact Henderson is on £100,000-a week at United, will leave most of the loaded Toon’s rivals struggling to compete for his signature.
