Man Utd end Ousmane Dembele transfer pursuit over £100m Barcelona demand

Manchester United have ended their pursuit of Ousmane Dembele after being priced out of a move for the Barcelona star. United showed an interest in signing Dembele several months ago in the hope of bolstering their attacking options.Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward was looking to exploit the financial meltdown at Barca and land the France international in a cut-price deal of around £60m.United thought new boss Ronald Koeman would be forced to sell Dembele to raise funds at the Nou Camp.But with Barca striker Luis Suarez poised to join Atletico Madrid to ease the burden on Barca's crippling wage bill, the Spanish giants are less reluctant to sell Dembele.It is understood Nou Camp chiefs have now told United it will cost them £100m to sign.
