Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
The Europa League is heading into the knockout stages - and there is plenty of Premier League interest. Manchester United's Champions League elimination sees them drop into the competition to join Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester City ahead of the round of 32.
All four Premier League teams will avoid each other at this stage having finished top of their groups. They are amongst the 16 seeded teams, along with Steven Gerrard's Rangers, who secured their spot at the top of Group D with victory over Lech Poznan.
That means they will not be able to face any of the other group winners - including Napoli, AC Milan and Roma - or Ajax, who were eliminated from the Champions League.
