Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Rangers will be playing European football after Christmas. After winning their Europa League group the Premiership leaders are seeded for today's last 32 draw, which will give them a second leg at home and an easier draw.
This was borne out by them landing Belgian side Royal Antwerp, who aren’t as good as Standard Liege and who Rangers have already beten.
This is likely to be crucial for the coefficient as Scotland's last remaining representatives look to secure 11th place and a likely automatic Champions League place.
It won't be easy for Steven Gerrard's side though with Ukraine breathing down our necks and both Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kiev in the hat for today's draw.
