Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

France Football has previewed Saturday’s derby and paid special attention to a club on the rise and a man they believe could be a "maestro", Steven Gerrard.

Charting its ascendancy after the crushing low of financial meltdown, the publication details how Rangers announced itself back on the big stage.

They wrote: "The Glasgow Rangers are finally back on top of Scottish football. A real rebirth for a club that knew the bottom in 2012 after liquidation. "Financially limited, the leaders of the club were inventive by seeking out players from lower divisions such as James Tavernier who landed in 2015 from Wigan for £250,000 and Alfredo Morelos, recruited from HJK Helsinki in 2017 for £1m.
