Emergency services were called to reports of the blaze at a semi-detached property in Eastham Avenue at about 3.30pm today (Monday, May 3).
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the blaze involved the kitchen of the house. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels, ventilators and breaking in gear to tackle the flames.
A man was treated by paramedics at the scene, but was not taken to hospital. Pictures from the scene showed several fire engines and an ambulance parked on the residential street, off Walmersley Road.
