Police were called to the Metrolink stop just off Bury Old Road in Prestwich at around 8pm on Monday (May 3). Officers received a report of a concern for safety.
A 47-year-old man had fallen from a bridge and suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Whittaker Lane was closed from Ogden Street to Bury Old Road for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
