A man was floored by a punch to the head then kicked on the face as he lay on the ground.Zak Oakes, 31, appeared from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.He admitted assaulting a man in Dinmont Crescent, Motherwell, on May 15 last year.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Oakes then kicked him, causing his face to strike the kerb.The victim's taxi arrived and he left the scene. He went to hospital the next day for treatment to a facial injury.

A CT scan was clear.Oakes also admitted fighting with several other people while holding a bottle in Dinmont Crescent just 20 minutes after the assault.His girlfriend intervened to break up the brawl which was captured on CCTV.Oakes further admitted possession of cannabis and street valium, giving police a false name and breaching bail orders by contacting his girlfriend on various occasions between May and July.He has been in custody since July 24.Sentence was deferred for a criminal justice social work report and Sheriff John Hamilton remanded him in custody. *Don't miss the
