Emergency services raced to the popular spot in Merseyside yesterday (Tuesday) after three men, aged in their 20s, got into difficulty in the sea.
Firefighters helped the RNLI and the Coastguard as a search operation was launched at about 7pm. Merseyside Police have confirmed this morning (Wednesday) that all three men were pulled from the water and taken to hospital.
One man was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
