Geraint Thomas pulled out of the men's cycling road race at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics following a crash earlier in the event.
Thomas was one of Team GB's brightest medal hopes on what was officially day one of the Olympics - but suffered a repeat of his heartbreak from Rio de Janeiro five years ago.
The 35-year-old came off his bike along with fellow Brit Tao Geoghegan Hart after both were caught up in a crash on the Doshi Road climb, around 70 kilometres into the 234km race.
Although they were both quickly back in the saddle, former Tour de France champion Thomas eventually pulled out with almost 60km still to go.
