Geraint Thomas: ‘The Tour de France is three weeks of suffering’
the 2021 Tour de France. During the three-week race, competitors will cycle 3,417km (roughly the distance from London to Ankara in Turkey), lose 150 litres of sweat (enough to fill a small bath tub), torch over 126,000 calories (the equivalent of 249 Big Macs), and climb 51,153 vertical metres (the equivalent of cycling from sea level to the summit of Everest more than five times). Thomas has endured appalling pain already.
