Sign up today for the best stories straight to your inboxA man apparently in the throes of a mental breakdown cut off his own penis and threw it in the toilet of his New York City apartment.The 50-year-old man's roommate called cops at about 11:45am on Wednesday morning and told them he had cut his own arm, according to reports.Officers responding to the apartment on Main Street in Tottenville, Staten Island found the man with a wound to his right arm, which he said was self-inflicted.The man later told the responding emergency workers that he'd also severed his penis and discarded it in an upstairs toilet, the new York Post reports.First responders confirmed the man's genitals were missing.
