A man has been charged with the murder of a 19-year-old boy. Matthew was found a short distance away from Railway Road with stab wounds after officers attended to the scene at 12.05am on Saturday (July 29) following reports of an ongoing disturbance.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Matthew died later in hospital. A post-mortem examination concluded that the cause of Matthew's death was due to a stab wound.
A second 19-year-old male was also treated for stab injuries, however, his injuries were not as serious and he has since been released from hospital. Henry Houghton, of Barrison Green, Scarisbrick, has now been charged with murder and has been remanded into custody. He is due to appear in Preston magistrates this morning.
