MAFS UK's Whitney begged for local change after her mum died in car crash tragedy

Married At First Sight star Whitney Elizabeth Hughes has just joined the Channel 4 show to find the man - or husband - of her dreams.

Whitney was devastated following the loss of her mum, and after she was killed in a tragic car accident, she campaigned for change in her local area of St Albans.Whitney, 31, was 28-years-old when she campaigned for changes to road safety following the death of her mum, Gillian Williams.Her mum died after she was involved in a collision on the Redbourn Road on October 9, 2019.Whitney explained at the time that her mum had warned her that the road was dangerous and encouraged her to be careful when on the route because of the accidents.She said at the time of the campaign: "My mum was only 55 when she died.

She was on her way back from work. She was a hard-working woman and had just moved back to work in her home town of St Albans and was so excited to be back."She added: "I am devastated that my mum has had her life taken away from her at such a young age.

I really hope that something can be done to prevent more deaths on this road." The changes are yet to be made on the road, but Whitney's petition remains ongoing.
