An ex soldier who led police on a 90mph police chase, drove on the wrong side of the road and ploughed into a train driver, killing him instantly. "Loving and loyal" 44-year-old father Andrew Kitson was hurled into a garden after Adam Badkin hit him at 80mph and flipped his car.
The 22-year-old then fled the scene and at first pursuing officers didn't even realise Mr Kitson had been hit. When he was caught and told what had happened Badkin repeatedly said "What have I done?", Leeds Crown Court as he was jailed for six years on Friday.
Police began pursuing the former army engineer on June 9 in Wakefield after spotting him on his mobile. He was already on a ban after using his phone on a previous occasion.
