Loose Women's Kelle Bryan flooded with 'racist comments' after show's all-black episode

Loose Women's first all-black panel.In October 2020, the former Hollyoaks star, 47, featured on the ITV programme's first ever show which was hosted entirely by four black presenters.Kelle appeared on the groundbreaking episode alongside Charlene White, Brenda Edwards and Judi Love.While praised by the majority of fans at the time, Kelle recently shared that she was left 'in disbelief' after "racist comments" were made on Twitter.The Eternal singer told The Mirror: "There were lots of positive comments [afterwards] but, unbelievably, there was lots of racism, lots of racist comments."Kelle later explained that the comments made included remarks like 'I switched off, who do they think they are?' and "As soon as I saw them...' She said that while the Loose Women digital team ensured the stars were 'protected', other viewers also took to the presenters' defence on Twitter to hit back at the racist trolls.Kelle added: "We have a really good team at Loose who protect us from that and also the digital team are amazing at scanning and ensuring that we're as protected as possible."But it's still there, but that's what we're challenging. "We're challenging old-fashioned, out-dated mindsets that need to be challenged."Earlier this month, Kelle left her role as Martine Deveraux on Hollyoaks after four years.She joined the soap in October 2018 and in April last year, Kelle's character was the focus of a powerful episode which saw the topic of unconscious bias explored through Martine's eyes.After leaving the soap, Kelle wrote in an emotional Instagram post: "I bid farewell to @hollyoaksofficial what a fabulous creative and stretching time as an actor."I need to thank the fans of Hollyoaks for accepting me, the cast and crew from.
