Customers at the Galleria Mall are reported to have heard gunshots with some running out before police arrived and put the third floor Nordstrom store on lockdown.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage as they search for the suspect. An ambulance took an injured person from the scene to Park Land Hospital, police have confirmed.
The incident happened sometime after 7pm local time on Tuesday. Dallas Police tweeted around 8pm: "One person was shot inside the Galleria Mall.
